Why do you need an autoresponder as an affiliate marketer?

Have you heard “the money is in the list”?

No?

Write it down somewhere so you can be reminded.

Building an email list of subscribers right from the start, is one of the top lessons many successful affiliate marketers learned from their past experience.

Email marketing is all about building a relationship with your subscribers and being able to produce products and services to meet their needs.

An autoresponder will help you to automate these activities and track the analytics on what worked and what didn’t.

The ones to avoid:

While an autoresponder is a crucial tool, many providers have banned affiliate marketers, because they believe affiliate marketers are likely to spam their subscribers on unrelated products and services.

While many can argue how far this is from the truth, if I’d known this right from the start, I would have just moved on to the ones that are more affiliate friendly. Instead, I went through a very long painful process of applying for the big names one by one and being rejected…

It’s also important to mention that I first started with for all the FREE ones to minimise the initial investment, but none of the free ones has the capability and/or are affiliate marketing friendly.

I came to the conclusion that as an affiliate marketer, you will need to invest in a PAID autoresponder.

So one of the reasons I’m writing this, is to save you time, so you can pick the best one from the beginning and start your email list building.

Below are the ones that I have either been rejected by or has a strict policy that is not suitable for affiliate marketers. If you are currently using one of them as an affiliate marketer, you are risking losing your hard-worked email list.

Here is the list to AVOID:

  • Mailchimp
  • MailerLite
  • ActiveCampaign
  • Benchmark
  • Constant Contact
  • SendinBlue

So let’s get to the best autoresponder for affiliate marketers…

New to affiliate marketing?

Here’s my review to The Best Internet Marketing Training for Beginners.

Feature highlights that stand out as the best autoresponders for affiliate marketers

When it comes to features, GetResponse offers core features to all the plans, even the BASIC plan. This is why I think it is one of the best autoresponders for affiliate marketers.

Here are some core feature highlights:

Autoresponder

This feature knocks the competitors out of the park. It allows you to send automated emails on either time based conditions or action based conditions.

For example, GetResponse is able to automate a message when your subscribers:

  • Click a link
  • Open an email
  • Subscribe to a specific list
  • Receive a promotion on their birthdays

There is also plenty of training available for this specific topic to help you increase subscriber engagement.

Find out from the link below:

Automation templates

Email creation:

The email creation tool allows you to either design your email from scratch or save time by using pre-designed templates.

My favourite feature here is the spam checker tool. It gives a score to your message and detects any elements that may be flagged as spam. This ensures your messages get delivered to the inbox every time.

A/B Testing

A/B testing is also called split testing. With this feature, GetResponse allows you to try different promotions, subject titles, time of sending etc. to work out which is the most effective on your subscribers’ engagement.

RSS to email

If you are a blogger, you will LOVE this feature.

The RSS to email feature allows you to send emails to your subscribers every time you publish a new blog post.

This is a great way to build relationships with your subscribers. And when you have a list of loyal followers, they are more likely to convert.

How much does it cost?

GetResponse offers 4 types of memberships: Basic, Plus, Professional and Enterprise.

It ranges from $15/month with 1,000 subscribers to $1,199/month with over 100,000 subscribers.

The basic plan is one of the most affordable autoresponder services with all the core features.

As your email list grows bigger or if you need more features, you can always upgrade the plan.

While you can pay from month to month, the annual and biannual payment plans are available to save you 18% and 30% respectively, if you know you are willing to commit for a period of time.

Hi Chloe, I just wanted to say thank you for this review.

I’ve tried a few different autoresponders over the years, it can be a real minefield, especially for affiliate marketers.  However, in future I will give GetResponse more consideration.  I’ll still do my due dilligence, but i’ll definately keep them in mind.

Looking forward to your next review.

    Justin.

As we know that as an affiliate market or any business really, getting back to your customer as fast as you can is very essential or you will lose them. Sine we all have to sleep these autoresponder is a cheap way to get back to the customers without having to hire someone.

Thank you so much for your review on GetResponse. I love that they have a 30 day free trial, I absolutely have to give it a try and take it from there. The features are amazing as well and it is not bad for only $15 a month. Will check it out from your link 🙂

Hi Chloe, your review is detailed enough to choose GetResponse, I was also testing free responders, but they are limited, what is not clear to me is if GetResponse accepts emails like Gmail, or do they have to be emails with domain names?
I definitely signed up for free mode, thanks for the review,
    Regards,

I believe GetResponse does accept gmail although not recommended.

If you are part of Wealthy Affiliate (WA), you can create a domain email address in less than a minute and link to the gmail account that you want to receive email from.

If you are not part of WA,  here’s an article that will help you to set up via 3rd party host such as Bluehost.  https://fitsmallbusiness.com/free-custom-email-domain/

      Hope this helps.
