After a few weeks of researching online obsessively, on different ways of making money online, I came across a high percentage of success stories through blogging.
… But how to start blogging for beginners? What if I have no experience on how to build a blog, not to mention any ideas on WordPress, host platforms, SEO, blah blah blah… Well, you are in the right place.

How to make money through your blog?

Not every blog makes money. But if you are like me, who wants to turn a blog into passive money-making business, affiliate marketing is the vehicle to do that. By promoting products and services to your customer/readers through your blog, you make a commission when a sale is made.
Here is a diagram to break this process into 4 simple steps:
- Customers are searching for something through social media.
- You have a blog that promotes products and/or services for a specific need – that’s called a Niche.
- Your targeted customers read about your blog, which recommends the products and services and then purchases through the links from your blog.
- You make a commission from each purchase – voila!
“I am a complete beginner, where do I start?”
Well, to start blogging for beginners, you first need a website. The website needs to live on a hosting platform.
There are many hosting platforms on the market to choose from. Bluehost, GoDaddy, HostGator Cloud, SiteGround just to name a few top ones. The problem is, none of these has a step-by-step training guide.
4 years ago, I created my first website with Bluehost, which is the most popular hosting site by far. It took me over A MONTH to build my website. I spent many hair-pulling hours searching through numerous training videos on YouTube just to get me started. Every time when I faced a problem, it sent me off for a few more hours of scouting for a solution through oceans of “how to” videos. By the time my site was up, I had already burned out all my creative juice to blog!

Let’s break it down into 4 simple steps:
Step 1: Choose the type of website. You can either try a free domain that is a subdomain of Siterubix, or you can purchase a domain that you own. If you just want to try it before you buy, I would go with the free domain. You can always transfer the free domain to your own down the road by a click of a button.
Step 2: Choose a domain name and give a title for your website.
Step 3: This is the fun part – Choose a design! There are over 2464 themes within Wealthy Affiliate, but the tip here is to stick with something simple and basic. You can opt for more sophisticated.
Step 4: Click the “Build This Site” button, take a deep breath and wait for 10 sec. while the system is building your site.
This too me about 5 minutes before something like this showed up.
And just like that, congratulations my friend, your 1st website has gone live!
What else do I need to know about Wealthy Affiliate?
So now that you see how easy it is to create your own blog, you may still have a few more questions about Wealthy Affiliate… How long have they been around? How much does it cost? Do they have a good reputation? etc.

The main difference between MLM (Multi level Marketing and AF (Affiliate Marketing), in my opinion, is that, you can only sell the products and services of the MLM that you are part of, whereas with AF, you get to choose whatever products or services that you would like to promote. To me, having the freedom of choosing what I’d like to promote is more attractive to me than being limited.
Wealthy Affiliate is totally legit. I followed the step-by-step guide and build this website. I totally understand you being nervous of starting something especially after investing tons of money. I was on that boat too. The best part is that you can start for free.

Is it like MLM? I see those offers all the time. They always end up costing me tons of money and I never get anything return. I really want to work from home but I’m nervous. Thanks for this informative article, I think it answers some of my questions. I tried to create a blog in the past but I always ended up watching so many videos online and created nothing. I believe Wealthy Affiliate might be my solution in 2020.
I found writing a blog is a solitude way, but you mention you have someone to support when you meet website issues. This is great, I finally find a place that makes blogging more social now. I think I would give it a try this year just like you tried again after 4 years!

The rule of thumb to choose a niche for your blog is to go with a subject that you are passionate and knowledgable about. From my experience, a focused niche blog does better than a multi-niched blog. Hope this helps.

I guess writing a quality blog is like writing a long essay, except, in order to get traffic for the blog, it needs to be SEO friendly, so the post can be ranked on top of the google search.
