Wondering if you should use Tailwind for Pinterest to increase your blog traffic?

Pinterest is one of the most effective social media platforms when it comes to bringing traffic to your blog.

Especially for those of you who have a new blog and are still waiting for SEO to kick in. While that may take months, using Pinterest can fast track your blog traffic.

Want to give Pinterest a try but don’t want to spend hours pinning?

This is where Tailwind comes in…

Disclosure: Some of the links in the article contains affiliate links, which means that if you make a purchase through it, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps support the blog and allows me to continue to make free content. I will only recommend products that I use and love. Thank you for your support!

What is Tailwind?

Tailwind is a Pinterest partner and approved auto-scheduler that helps you to maximise your Pinterest traffic while minimising the effort.

At a cost of $9/mo (an annual plan), it will schedule the pins on autopilot, accelerate your traffic growth while guiding you with the latest Pinterest best practices.

It is the best investment I made to bring traffic to my blog, especially in the early days…

On the fence on whether Tailwind is worth it?

Here are the 5 undeniable reasons why you should use Tailwind for Pinterest, especially if you are still waiting on traffic for your new blog.

Reason #1: Auto-scheduling with Tailwind for Pinterest

As Tailwind is an auto-scheduling tool for Pinterest, the number one reason to use Tailwind for Pinterest is to schedule your pins on autopilot, so you don’t have to spend hours on Pinterest every day.

Pinterest rewards on consistency.

In 2020 Pinterest best practice FAQ, pinners who pin 15-25 per day at the most optimised time get the best result.

Tailwind’s “Smart Schedule” feature can help you set the number of pins you want to schedule per day, and optimises the best time to pin when your audience is most active.

It will look something like this…

  • I set 21 pins as my number of pins per day
  • You can choose your timezone
  • Green time slots are the optimised times Tailwind suggested for me to pin
  • The light green time slots are additional time slots that Tailwind suggested beyond my 21 pin limit.

Reason #2 Use Tailwind Tribe to Get More Shares on Pinterest

Tired of pinning hundreds of Pinterest group boards and not sure if they are actually working for you?

If using Tailwind auto-scheduling feature is going to help you minimise the time, utilising Tailwind Tribe is going to massively maximise your effort and increase your reach on Pinterest.

What is the Tailwind tribe?

It is a better version of Pinterest group board that is specifically for content creators to share high quality pins to increase Pinterest reach and grow blog traffic.

Why does Tailwind tribe work better than Pinterest group board?

  1. Each Tailwind tribe is highly monitored by Tribe owners. Everyone is required to share others’ pins. As a result, you will get a higher re-sharing rate of your own pins.
  2. You can also pin higher quality pins from tribemates. This will drive a higher engagement rate from your audience.
  3. Preview the tribes and check out their statistics before you join. By searching tribes from different niches, Tailwind will show you how active each tribe is before you decide the ones that are right for you.

Finding the best-performing Tailwind tribes can take some time. To save you time, I have done the research for you.

Does that mean Pinterest group boards are dead?

The short answer is NO.

While they don’t work as well as they use to, there is still value to join group boards. If you are part of more than 20 group boards, now is the time to look at some analytics to find out which ones are actually working for you, and ditch the ones that are not!

Reason #3: Schedule Multi-Boards for One Pin in One Minute

Here’s another time-saving feature on Tailwind for Pinterest.

If you are familiar with Pinterest, you probably know that you can only save 1 pin to 1 board at a time.

Say if you there is a pin that is relevant to more than one board, instead of pinning multiple times on Pinterest over a period of time, you can do that on Tailwind in less than a minute.

To make it even more efficient, you can use the “Board list” feature to create a set of board under a list name. This list name will show up when you pick the boards for your next pin, simply click that, it will automatically show all boards that were created under that list.

Tips: Based on 2020 Pinterest best practices, it is recommended to save the same pin to NO MORE than 10 boards.

Reason #4: Use Tailwind Analytics to Optimise Your Pinterest Strategy

I don’t know about you, with my engineering background, I am a sucker for analytics…

If that’s the case for you as well, you will love Tailwind Analytics – it provides statistics on every aspect so you can keep tweaking your Pinterest strategy based on what’s working and what is not.

The profile performance tracks the number of followers, the number of pins shared, repined.

The most valuable analytics I found is the “Board Insights”. It shows you how each of your board performs. The higher the Virality score (=Repins/Total pins), the better that particular board works for you.

Reason #5: Use Tailwind SmartGuide for Pinterest Traffic

I am so excited to share this one with you. Because of Tailwind’s latest feature SmartGuide, you just got a lot more for your money!

In Feb. 2020, Tailwind released this new feature to help users to improve their marketing results on Pinterest by recommending the best practices.

It is like to have your personal Pinterest assistant that monitors your pinning behaviours and alerts you whether you’re pinning too much or too little. Moreover, it provides suggestions on how to fix it.

Over time, it will continue to update you with the latest Pinterest best practices as they evolve. This way you can always stay on top of your Pinterest strategy to get the most traffic.

I dedicated an entire post on SmartGuide HERE.

This is really helpful. I just started my new website and putting out content isn’t the hard part. The hard part is getting traffic and visitors to actually view your content. My numbers are so low that I am starting to think it’s just me viewing my website everyday lol. So I am glad I came across your article because this is exactly what I was looking for. I never heard of Tailwind, but if it helps me gain traffic to my site, I am definitely checking it out. Great article, super helpful.

Tailwind is a great tool to improve your presence on Pinterest. But lately, Pinterest has changed their rules, so I am asking myself is tailwind still relevant?

Because repining rules has changed, the quality of pins or what you need to include in your pin has changed too.

I have not used Pinterest for a while, so please let me know.

    Thanks

Thanks for the question. With Pinterest’s ever-changing algorithm, “is Tailwind still relevant?”

My view is that, as Tailwind works closely with Pinterest as a partner, they continue to tweak their services and features to help users to stay up to date with Pinterest’s latest changes. The recently released SmartGuide feature is an example of that.

In fact, now that Pinterest is emphasising even more on fresh pins, it requires more work from the content creators. By using Tailwind for Pinterest will really help us to be more efficient.

The Tailwind is an amazing tool, it saves my ton of time. I really enjoyed your article. I heard a lot about Tailwind Tribes, should I buy Tribe power-ups? Is this worth?

    1. Chloe

Glad you enjoyed my post, Lomash.
Great question on Tribe Power-ups! I upgraded to Tribe power-up a couple of months ago, and I am seeing a HUGE increase on my traffic.
Without the Tribe Power-up, I noticed my limited pins get flushed out in many popular and crowded tribes, as a result, less share on my pins from the Tribemate. With the Power-up, now I have twice as many pin-allowance and twice the Tribes to join, my pins get a lot more share by my Tribe mates.
Based on my experience, I think it’s TOTALLY worth the money. In fact, I think it’s a better value for return than the basic plan.
      Hope that helps!

It is so amazing when it comes to a tool that will do the job for you. I have heard of tailwind many times before and I really need to consider using it for my Pinterest account because I have been having so many ups and down with my followers. I gain so many of them then lose them and to tell you the truth I am not seeing any growth with my Pinterest account,. So the question is will tailwind help my viewers and followers to grow and how easy is this tool to use? Thanks so much for a well-detained post and for your help.

    1. Chloe

Tailwind is definitely a great tool to help you grow Pinterest traffic. The tribe will get you more shares with people who are interested in your niche. Tailwind also provides much more accurate analytics to help you with what strategy is working and what is not. Like anything, there will be a learning curve, which is why I highly recommend Paid by Pinterest course to fast track the learning.
      All the best!

I recently looked over a case study that focused on Pinterest and it really opened my eye to the available traffic we can drive if we keep up working on our Pinterest game.

This tool is really interesting and I’ll definitely give it a try as I think that it will fit my needs.

Thanks a lot for this post!

    Cheers,
    Dario
