Virtual assistants are very different from customer service jobs in a way that the VA usually works for smaller business and individual entrepreneur. Customer service job in a call centre are usually for large companies.
As a VA, you are likely to be the ONLY person who does a specific range of tasks, whereas there will be many people perform the SAME job as customer service for the same company.
As a customer service role, you are usually given a script and a fault tree to follow when it comes to answering queries with customers, whereas there is no script nor instructions as a VA. Especially the niche VAs are highly skilled.
Fiverr, Upwork are great places to start your freelance VA business.
This course doesn’t sound too bad, but you’re right, the price tag is pretty hefty, that’s what put me off of checking the course out even if there is a free trial. I find that I am very suspicious when it comes to seeing a huge price tag like that, no matter if it is legit or not.
I think the downside to this for me would be having to search for clients, it sounds like you’re still working for someone and that is something that I’m trying to get away from right now. Have you tried this yourself? If I started the freebie, would it cut me off from learning any of the “real” stuff?
Through my experiences, I found that even if there is a free trial for anything, they always cut you off and limit a bunch of the useful things in order to get you to buy into it. I mean I get that, but leaving some of the stuff that will get you actual results has a higher chance of getting someone to spend their money on it in my opinion, rather than just a glorified introduction to what the course is supposed to be all about.
Gina’s course is really one of the best on the market as far as VA goes, I wouldn’t ever recommend if it doesn’t stand up the promise. I know many graduates who are successful after taking the course.
As for me, with a full-time job, a side hustle and a mama of 2 little ones, I will be crazy to take on another job. But honestly, I truly think VA is a great work from home opportunity especially the demand going up.
